The idea for a crisis center that goes beyond stop-gap aid for persons in crisis situations was initiated by the Downtown Church Center, a group of six churches in downtown Winston-Salem. Through that vision, the doors of Crisis Control Ministry (CCM) opened on April 4, 1973. Since then, it has grown to be the largest nonprofit provider of short-term emergency assistance serving Forsyth and Stokes Counties.

As we enter 2023, we approach the date we opened our doors for the first time fifty years ago! To celebrate 50 years of work and service, we are gearing up for a joyful worship service full of music, a great message and gratitude!

The Reverend Michael Curry, the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church and former chair of the board at CCM in 1980, will bring a message of hope and inspiration. The WFU Gospel Choir, the Ardmore brass band, community leaders and young people will all be a part of the service.

We encourage you to reserve your seat for MONDAY, APRIL 3rd, at 7 PM, the eve of our anniversary for this wonderful celebration happening at First Baptist Church on Fifth, one of our founding congregations and where our founder, Ron Rice, served as Outreach Pastor. We look forward to seeing you there!
