Seventy-year-old Carla has no children and lives alone. Due to a back and knee injury fifteen years ago, she survives on the limited income provided by disability benefits. She knew about Crisis Control for years but never imagined needing to ask for help. The rising cost of living over the last year depleted her small budget, leaving little for groceries after covering housing and utility expenses. By October, she had no more money to supplement her $43/month food stamp allowance, and Carla finally turned to Crisis Control Ministry. In this simple act of courage, she found relief through compassionate volunteers who welcomed her with dignity, understanding, and a caring touch. Because of her ongoing need, Carla was approved to receive food every two weeks from our Client-Choice Food Pantry over the next year. This food assistance helps provide the wholesome nourishment needed to support health and quality of life for our neighbors in need, like Carla.
